Ural Boxing Promotions (President Evgueny Vainshtein) returned to its Caucasus citadel of Vladikavkaz, Russia, to stage the next tournament for local boxing fans. In the main event, WBC #34 rated welterweight Aslanbek Kozaev (13-0, 5 KOs) acquired a vacant WBC Youth title with a dominant performance over Brazilian heavy hitter Joaquim Carneiro (10-2, 10 KOs).
Kozaev engaged into all-out brawl with the Brazilian right after the starting bell. It soon became obvious that the Ossetian has superior boxing skills and better technique to backup his activities while Carneiro was too raw to compete with Kozaev on even terms. The local hero was close to finish the job in the second but the quest fighter survived, partially because of his granite chin. However, when Kozaev launched the same assault in round nine, referee Predrag Aleksic was forced to call it quits even though Carneiro was out on his feet. And it’s TKO 9 for Aslanbek Kozaev who improved much in comparison with his American debut.
WBC #21 middleweight Anton Novikov (18-0, 6 KOs) moved down in weight and soundly (and unanimously) outpointed Ghanaian import Ishmael Tetteh (21-6-2, 10 KOs) over ten to grab a vacant WBC Youth I/C belt at 154 lbs. That was a typical Novikov performance – a bit boring, but consistent and dominant. There were no knockdowns.
Also, rising featherweight Aslanbek Tlatov (6-0, 3 KOs) made a short work of Kenyan John Gicharu (13-9-1, 6 KOs) finishing him off in the first round. Gicharu was down once.
Other results:
Alexey Martynov (3-1-1) UD 6 Rustam Shidginov (4-6, 2 KOs)
Konstantin Ponomarev (4-0, 1 KO) TKO 3 Alexey Gulov (0-2)
Arsen Aziev (2-0) PTS 4 Alexey Kalinin (0-5)
