While much of the focus - and frustration - involving IBF/WBA/WBO light heavyweight titlist Sergey Kovalev (28-0-1, 25KOs) is connected to a potential fight against WBC champion Adonis Stevenson, there is another name looming out there for 'the Krusher' - Andre Ward (28-0, 15KOs).

The last we saw of Ward on June 20th in Oakland he fought at a catch-weight of 172 pounds versus Paul Smith. There is talk of him appearing on the Miguel Cotto-Saul Alvarez pay-per-view undercard on November 21st in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay.

Word in the industry is that HBO is trying to work out a multi-fight deal with Ward that includes a match-up with Kovalev at light heavyweight.

Kathy Duva, the head of Main Events (which promotes Kovalev) said this regarding a potential Ward fight:

"As I've said all along, it's not a matter of if but a matter of when. I've been talking to the people at Roc Nation (Sports) and we're having very, very good meetings and that's another fight I'm sure will happen. I just can't tell you at this point when it will be. It'll happen, eventually."

Kovalev, will most likely return to the ring in late November, possibly in Russia.
