2010 International Kostya Tszyu Cup is just under way in Western Siberia. The first stage of the huge tournament, which involves sixteen fighters competing in the light welterweight division, was held on May 27 in Tyumen (all contests were four-rounders).
This time six bouts, including four six-round quarterfinals of the Cup’s second leg, were performed at Yubileyniy sports arena in Yugorsk, Russia, under the aegis of young, rising promoter Kira Plotnikova, a spouse of late Alexey Plotnikov, who tragically died in an auto crash in 2007.
In a complete shocker, WBO #8 and WBA #12 lightweight Dmitry Ganiev (12-1-1, 5 KOs), who once destroyed such an accomplished fighter as Fahsan 3K Battery in just a round, was soundly beaten by 20-year old near-debutant Alexey Glukhov (2-0, 0 KOs), who earned an unanimous decision over six.
Other QF results:
2). Fedor Mushtranov (4-2, 2 KOs) SD 6 Victor Izhak (3-2-1, 1 KO)
3). Albert Valeev (9-3, 3 KOs) SD 6 Anatoly Sidorov (5-4-1, 0 KOs)
4). Dmitry Mikhailenko (7-0, 1 KO) UD 6 Alexey Martynov (2-1-1, 0 KOs)

During the Bekkerfeld festival in Heerlen, Netherlands, two professional boxing contests have been held. One that was worth of some attention was a scheduled eight-rounder in the super middleweight division. Local Armenian Gevorg Khatchikyan stopped Marko Angermann (3-5, 2 KOs) on cuts in the fourth and improved to 12-0, with 3 KOs.
