Michael Koncz, adviser to WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, is not underestimating Floyd Mayweather Jr. in any possible way. Mayweather will stake his WBC/WBA titles against Pacquiao on May 2nd from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, is convinced Mayweather's "legs are shot" and says he came to that conclusion after watching the way Mayweather performed against Miguel Cotto and Marcos Maidana. Mayweather won a twelve round decision over Cotto and Maidana, twice.
Koncz and Pacquiao have actually discussed Roach's theory on Mayweather's legs.
“I’m very confident. It’s going to be a very tough fight. People say that Floyd’s legs are shot. In fact Manny and I were talking about that last night. Maybe Floyd underestimated [Marcos Maidana and Miguel Cotto], so we’re not going to underestimate Floyd,” said Koncz to Rappler.com. “We know he will be in the best shape, we know he wants to retain his ‘0.’ We know he wants to prove that he’s better than Manny. So we’re prepared for that.”
