A few hours ago in Tokyo, Japan, Yusuke Kobori (23-2) got off the deck in the second-round to stop Jose Alfaro (20-4) of Nicaragua in the third round, and picked up the WBA "regular" lightweight title. Because Nate Campbell owns the WBO and IBF titles, the WBA considers him the "super" champion at 135.

Alfaro, promoted by Don King, caught Kobori with a big combination that sent him down in the second-round, but he was able to weather the storm and survive. In the third, Kobori came back with a left hook that put Alfaro in serious trouble. He kept pouring on the punches until the referee jumped in to stop the damage.

"I'm delighted," Kobori told Reuters. "We had been working on that left hook in training and it just connected perfectly. It was a tough fight and I was in trouble early on. I guess I just hate losing."
