Reports coming out of Ukraine reveal that there are ongoing negotiations to match WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (45-2, 40 KOs) against the 'Russian Giant' Nikolai Valuev (53-2, 34 KOs) at the renovated Olympiysky stadium in Kiev, according to Klitschko’s K2 Promotions representative Aleksander Krasyuk. Valuev has been out of the ring since November 2009, when he lost a twelve round decision to David Haye. After his defeat, he underwent numerous surgical procedures to correct a few injuries.
“There is a real opportunity for the Klitschko brothers to fight in Ukraine, and such negotiations are already underway. The battle could be held next year, perhaps before Euro 2012. Nikolai Valuev seems now the most likely opponent,” Krasyuk noted in his interview with the Den newspaper.
