Bernd Boente, who spent 18 years as manager and chief executive for the Klitschko Management Group, has stepped down from his role as a boxing manager to become a commentator for DAZN.

Boente was behind most of the big fights in the Klitschko brothers’ careers, both in Germany and elsewhere.

The 69 year old had been a press officer for Universum Box Promotion when they promoted Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko. When their contracts with Universum expired they first joined Sauerland Event, but they soon became independent operators with a broadcast deal in Germany from RTL, K2 as promoters, and KMG their management.

Boente’s career change means that the heavyweight prospects Peter Kadiru and Viktor Jurk will have to find a new manager.
