Wroclaw, Poland - polish super middleweight Mariusz Cendrowski is now 22-3-2, with 8 KOs, following a dominating win over Estonian Anton Sjomkin (13-5, 11 KOs) in a scheduled four-rounder. Sjomkin, a former BBU International super middleweight titlist, was down twice in what BoxingScene scored 39-35 - for Cendrowski.
Highly regarded Polish cruiserweight Mateusz Masternak (24-0, 18 KOs), who is rightfully considered to be one of the best European 200lbers, marked up his record with another impressive stoppage, as he destroyed American heavyweight Carl Davis (15-4, 11 KOs) in the fourth round of scheduled ten. WBO #7, IBF #10 and WBC/WBA #11 ranked Pole was cautious in the first couple of rounds fighting Davis on even terms in an uninspiring jab contest. However, the fencing ended in the third when Masternak connected with a powerful right counter to the tip of the chin of Davis, which had him face-first on the canvas. Davis managed to get himself up but Masternak immediately finished him off with a barrage of punches.
Undefeated Polish heavyweight Anrzej Wawrzyk (23-0, 12 KOs) extended his winning seried with a questionable stoppage win over 2004 Athens American Olympian Devin Vargas (18-2, 7 KOs). Wawrzyk, 24, was rather active trying to knock the American fighter out but slick and agile Vargas adopted a wise rope-a-dope tactic, often played possum and forced still raw Wawrzyk to work much more than he needed originally. However, Devin was also in a horrible shape and started to fade rapidly as the ten-rounder passed its midpoint. He wilted under fire and took many punches from the Pole before the fight was unexpectedly stopped by referee on suggestion of team Vargas in the middle of the ninth.
