Klara Svensson’s (15-1, 5 KOs) IBF World Light Welterweight title challenge has been postponed due to an injury sustained by the champion Marisa Gabriela Nunez (7-5-2). The Argentinian suffered a broken arm in training leaving her unable to defend her title on September 19.
Svensson remains on the card for Team Sauerland’s historic Swedish show at the Rosvalla Stora Ishallen at the Nyköpings Arenor in Nyköping. An opponent for the 27 year-old from Malmo will be announced shortly.
‘’It’s a shame,’’ said Svensson. ‘’I was looking forward to fighting and winning the world title on September 19, but these things happen and I have to stay positive. I’m sure another opportunity will come soon. I’m happy to still be fighting in Nyköping, and I can’t wait to be a part of such a big show for Swedish boxing!’’
Said promoter Nisse Sauerland: ‘’This is obviously a very disappointing development for Klara. However, we are pleased to announce that she will still be fighting on September 19 and able to showcase her skills in front of the Swedish fans.’’
Svensson is part of a star studded Swedish line up on September 19 headlined by Erik Skoglund’s IBF Intercontinental Light Heavyweight Championship fight against Oleskandr Cherviak. Tickets are available via biljettforum.se.
