Sad news has come tonight from the capital of Northern Ossetia. According to local sources, 19-year old super middleweight kayo artist Khetag Kozaev was killed by an unknown gunman approximately at 3:30 AM LT during an armed conflict on a karaoke stage in “Mirage” night club.

“We are investigating this murder now; the suspect has already been identified but he is yet to be found”, reported an officer of Vladikavkaz militia. Legal proceedings will be instituted under §105.1 (murder) and §222 (criminal possession of firearms) articles of law.

Kozaev, who sported a perfect record of 10-0, with 9 KOs, was a native of Vladikavkaz and turned pro at a tender age of 17, becoming the youngest Russian pro fighter at the time. He was known for his lethal power and had six of his nine knockouts coming in the first round. Khetag Kozaev was WBC Youth and WBC Baltic super middleweight beltholder. He was last seen in the ring on April 24 stopping Argentinean Victor Hugo Mujica in two rounds; this fight can be browsed here.

BoxingScene send it deepest condolences to Kozaev’s family, his elder brother Aslanbek (also an unbeaten prospect), all his friends and his handlers at Ural Boxing Promotions.
