Who's Got Next?

Since the fight with Marcos Maidana is nowhere near a cakewalk for Amir Khan, it might seem silly to wonder about his future. But that's what reporters do, and Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer was asked what might be next for Khan should he emerge victorious Saturday at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

Schaefer said a possible opponent isn't in the front of his mind, but the venue and the country are: M.E.N. Arena in Manchester, England.

"We'll see what kind of an opponent we can come up with which would be acceptable to HBO," Schaefer said. "HBO would be interested in televising a Khan fight from Great Britain."

Schaefer was asked if Ortiz might be a good opponent for that fight should he get past Lamont Peterson on Saturday's undercard.

"Well, in England? I don't know," Schaefer said. "We have to see how everything falls  out, but I definitely want to do Amir's next fight in the U.K. We have to find an opponent which means a lot in the U.K. So, we'll see."

What about Prescott? Schaefer was asked of the man gave Khan his only loss. It seems the fans in the U.K. would embrace that rematch.

"Maybe Prescott," Schaefer said. "Maybe Michael Katsidis wants to move up."
