According to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan may defend his title against Juan Manuel Marquez on May 15 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Khan recently signed a promotional deal with Golden Boy. BoxingScene.com broke the news weeks ago regarding a deal on the table for a Marquez-Khan fight. Marquez gets his shot to make history by attempting to become the first Mexican fighter to win four world titles in four weight divisions.

If Khan manages to beat Marquez, Schaefer says a possible fight with Zab Judah would be a the next move, and then a super-fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

"A fight against Marquezx is a breakthrough as he is one of the best and Mexico's No1 active fighter," said Schaefer. " Once he wins against Marquez there is the possibility of a fight against Zab Judah - and then Mayweather Jr."
