Both camps are not denying that their respective fighters are placing their careers on the line in Manchester on Saturday. Marco Antonio Barrera returned last year after a brief retirement and sees Khan as a stepping stone to winning a fourth title in his fourth weight division. He admits that a loss may end his career. Khan, trying to rebuild himself after being knocked out last September by Breidis Prescott in 54-seconds, says that a loss to Barrera, who is no longer at his best, will cripple his stock as an upper-tier fighter.

"I love Amir Khan, he's a great stepping stone for Marco Antonio Barrera in his quest to become a four-time world champion," said King. "Frank [Warren] never did want to share with me, so now we are going to take it all."

A Barrera camp member had much harsher words.

"This guy will choke, he has no experience whatsoever. Another problem that he has got is all that pressure is on him in front of his family and fans. We have got no pressure, we know who we are, he has got to prove himself in front of a three-time world champion. We are going home with a victory."

Khan's trainer Freddie Roach believes the younger Khan will put an end to Barrera. He told Khan that his entire career is on the line in this one fight.

"I told him, you give this guy that one chance, then it's over. I told him, this is your whole life, this one fight. I said if you win this fight, you go on to greatness; if you lose this fight, it's over," Roach said.

"If I know Barrera,he'll be studying the Prescott tape and he's going to be looking for the left hook. Amir has made mistakes and got hit by that shot many times in the past. But I think we've corrected that mistake and we're not going to put ourselves in that bad situation I hope. If he does we could be in trouble and that is something this guy will take advantage of."
