Amir Khan is hoping to defend his newly acquired WBA light-welterweight title belt in the USA.  Khan confirmed to Sky News that the time has come for him to showcase his skills before US crowds.  “I get a lot of fan mail from the States.  People keep asking me when I'm going to fight there.  I think this is the right time,” declared Amir.

The young boxer is riding a wave of positivity in the wake of his points win over Andreas Kotelnik at the MEN on Saturday; trainer Freddie Roach has been particularly effusive in his praise of Amir, comparing him to current P4P king Manny Pacquiao.

Roach told The Telegraph that: “People wrote Amir off, but, like Manny, he has so many great qualities, and has the devastating speed which Manny has which can destroy opponents.  We have plenty to work on with Amir, but he will get better and better.”
