Richard, Schaefer, CEO for Golden Boy Promotions, has advised BoxingScene.com that Amir Khan's next opponent is likely going to be his IBF mandatory, Lamont Peterson. The fight is going to take place on December 10, with Las Vegas being the frontrunner to host.
Khan (26-1, 18KOs) had previously been slated to face Peterson (29-1-1, 15KOs) in April, but the two sides were unable to reach a financial agreement and Peterson was later replaced by Paul McCloskey, who lost a six round technical decision. According to Schaefer, the two sides have yet to reach a financial understanding and the fight is likely going to head to a purse bid.
"The next opponent for Khan is likely going to be his mandatory, Lamont Peterson, but it might also go to a purse bid," Schaefer told BoxingScene.com.
