MGM Grand, Las Vegas - In an earlier article on BoxingScene.com, British superstar Amir Khan (29-3, 19KOs) explained his reasons for his belief that Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26KOs) is no longer the same fighter. Khan sit ringside and watched Mayweather, 37-years-old, win a twelve round unanimous decision over Maidana on Saturday night.
Mayweather plans to return in May, and Khan hopes to become his opponent. Khan is going to have a stay-busy fight in December.
Whoever Mayweather faces in May, Khan predicts the undefeated boxer will physically decline even further in the next outing.
"This fight was a good fight, but you could see Floyd aging. I saw him get old overnight. His workrate is not there. You have respect how old he is, but the workrate is not there. The movement was not there either. He was getting hit with shots and his legs were going. You have respect Floyd, he's an old guy now. He's getting on em. I think in his next fight he will be even worse, because I can see it in his eyes that he wasn't happy in that fight [with Maidana]. Things were not going his way and Maidana was putting a lot of pressure on him," Khan said.
