Undefeated junior welterweight Dmitriy Salita appears to be targeting the winner of the June 27 title bout between WBA champion Andreas Kotelnik and challenger Amir Khan. Salita, the number-one contender under the WBA, is planning to site ringside for the fight. He wants to face the winner within 120-days [after June 27]. Whether it's Khan or Kotelnik, the winner would be a big step up in class.
"I am ready and can't wait to get my opportunity [of challenging for the title] and I plan to be in London on 27 June to watch the fight between Kotelnick and Khan. I would like to fight on the undercard which I think that would make the most sense. We'll see what happens if that doesn't happen, but I will fight the winner of those two in 120 days," Salita told Jewish News.
Salita has not performed like a champion in some of his past fights, but he promises to bring his game to a new level when he faces the Khan-Kotelnik winner.
"I am 30-0 thank God, I feel good about that and I can't wait to get the top boys in the ring. I always see improvement from my past fights and will definitely step up for the winner of the Kotelnik-Khan fight," Salita said.
