Former unified super lightweight world champion Amir Khan (31-4, 19 KOs) has discussed the option of a rematch with WBC Welterweight king Danny Garcia.
The pair met at the recent WBC convention in Florida, and Khan is adamant that a second bout with the unbeaten American would mean big money for both fighters.
Speaking to ES News in a recent interview, he said - “We’ve got unfinished business. One day we can have part two! Obviously I want that rematch. He even said it - he knows that’s going to make big money. It’s a big fight so let’s see.”
Garcia, who is unbeaten in 33 contests, earned a heavy stoppage victory over Khan in July 2012 and there has been talk of another meeting ever since.
“Deep down we all respect each other, but it’s a business. Sometimes in business you have to fight each other. But I don’t like him. One thing I don’t like about him is that he beat me,” added the 30-year-old.
Khan has not fought since the knockout defeat to Saul Alvarez in May of last year, where he made the jump up to a catch-weight of 155 to challenge the powerful Mexican.
“At the end of the day, the best have to fight the best. That’s what I did when I went up to Canelo’s weight. A lot of people thought it was a bit silly but the only reason I went up to that weight was because I want to challenge myself.”
First up for Garcia is the huge welterweight unification fight with Keith Thurman, a clash which Khan believes his former foe can handle.
“I wish Danny all the best. He’s going to do the job,” Khan said.
