Amir Khan said he doesn’t expect to deposit Chris Algieri on his rear end to the extent that Manny Pacquiao did to Algieri when they met last November in Macua. In that fight, Algieri hit the deck six times against Pacquiao.

But Khan didn't want to make any promises that he'll do the same, promising a more measured approach when he meets Algieri on Friday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The fight will be televised by Premier Boxing Champions on Spike TV.

Khan plans to box in a smart manner. In the past, Khan was winning fights but got too anxious to get a knockout, like he showed with Danny Garcia, and was either knocked down or knocked out.

“Pacquiao is a great fighter and he did what he had to do in that fight,” Khan said. “We’re very different stylistically. Pacuiao was a southpaw so I don’t know if that caused Chris Algieri to give him problems. Chris is 100%. He’s won all his fights against orthodox fighters. I’m orthodox so he’s going to bring something else to the table but I’m a different kind of fighter to Manny Pacquiao."

"I know he’s been down a few times but I’m not really focusing on that. I’m focusing to work the full 12 rounds with a high work rate. I know that I  have the power to put him down. But I’m not going to go looking for it because that’s where you make mistakes. I’m going to box him my own way and I know I will catch him a few times and I probably will put him down if I catch him with a good clean shot but I’m not going to look for the knockout or the stoppage. I’m just going to box him.”
