Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) says his domestic rival, IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (34-0, 25KOs), needs to get bigger wins in order to make their showdown much larger than it currently is.
If they held the bout right now, Khan doubts the match is capable of selling out Wembley Stadium.
He is not impressed with Brook's streak of wins and criticized his 2015 victories over outclassed opponents Jo Jo Dan and Frank Gavin. Brook is likely going to return on October 24th in Sheffield and dangerous Diego Chaves is being mentioned as the frontrunner.
After being passed over for Floyd Mayweather's next fight, Khan is looking to return in the late fall.
"If a Kell Brook fight’s going to happen it will be in 2016. There are levels in boxing and my name is getting mentioned with Manny Pacquiao and Mayweather – the biggest names in boxing. Kell Brook isn’t getting mentioned among those guys, so I want Kell to prove himself with some big name fights and beat them. So when we meet, it’s a big fight financially, and it will be known around the world. A fight like that would be able to sell out Wembley Stadium, but at the moment I don’t think it would," Khan told Time Out Dubai.
