Amir Khan felt disrespected by some of the recent comments from IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook, who took a few jabs at the record of his domestic rival.
Brook was back in action on Saturday, making the first defense of his IBF title against mandatory challenger Jo Jo Dan. Brook overwhelmed Dan with four knockdowns to gain a TKO in four.
Khan was last in action in December, when he won an impressive twelve round decision over two-division champion Devon Alexander.
Eddie Hearn of Matchroom, who promotes Brook, has set aside a date of June 13th at Wembley for a date against Khan, but that won't happen as Khan is planning to return in late May.
Khan says Brook "has to do more" if he wants to earn a fight with him. Other than his title victory over Shawn Porter, Khan is not impressed with the remainder of Brook's unbeaten streak.
"If he's fighting guys like Dan and beating these guys, fine. If he's fighting these kind of opponents and then disrespecting my opponents by saying I haven't fought anyone - then who is Jo Jo Dan? No disrespect because I respect all fighters. On the level he's on, he shouldn't even be fighting people like that - he should be fighting top guys. He beat Shawn Porter, but that's it. Kell Brook is always going to be there [for me] and that fight can happen but not this year," Khan said.
