Khan-Alexander: Mares To Be Added To SHO Telecast?

By Steve Kim

Sources have indicated to BoxingScene.com that Abner Mares' bout against Jose Ramirez will be added onto the December 13th telecast on Showtime from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Originally, a bout between WBO jr. middlweight titlist Demetrius Andrade and Jermell Charlo was scheduled to be on that card before Andrade was deemed 'unavailable' for that assignment.

The fight would be the second for Mares (27-1-1, 14KOs) since suffering his first career defeat last August, when Jhonny Gonzalez stopped in the first round. After the cancelation of their planned February rematch, Mares finally returned in July to win a ten round decision over Jonathan Oquendo.

Also on this broadcast is Keith Thurman-Leonard Bundu and a welterweight showdown between Amir Khan and Devon Alexander which is that nights main event. There is also a chance that Jermall Charlo - the twin brother of Jermell - will be added onto this show.
