Veteran southpaw Juanito Rubillar (49-21-7, 24KO) has dropped an eight round unanimous decision to Russia’s  Khabir Suleymanov (16-4, 6KO) in an All Star Boxing Promotions fight card at Montebello, California.

The fight was at 120 pounds.

Well known maker of boxer’s mouth-guards and regular cornerman Dr. Ed de la Vega told us “It was a fairly rough and tumble fight from the start” and although Rubillar “dropped Suleymanov in the fourth  the Russian recovered enough to pull out a win via unanimous decision.”

All three judges scored the fight for the Russian by identical 78-72 scorecards for the Russian.

Dr. de la Vega said that according to Rubillar he has been in the US for two years and fighting in areas like San Diego.

He said he saw Rubillar at the Manny Pacquiao–Brandon Rios press conference at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles despite the fact that he had a scheduled weigh-in later that day.

De La Vega said he felt Rubillar “wasn't truly into the fight and was taking it only as a source of income.”
