Ismael Barroso says Britain’s Kevin Mitchell (39-3, 29 KOs) will be the 18th knockout on his record when the pair clash this Saturday night.
The two hard-hitting lightweights square off for the recently vacated WBA Interim Lightweight title as part of the Sky Box Office Pay-Per-View attraction headlined by the heavyweight grudge match between Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte at London’s O2 Arena.
Barroso, 32, brings a fearsome record of (18-0-2) with 17 of his opponents being stopped well inside the distance. And while the Venezuelan banger has respect for the former two-time world title challenger, Barroso says he will be no match for him on the night.
“He [Mitchell] is a very strong fighter, but he has not fought me I will be strong in every way” said Barroso who has already fought out of his home country in the likes of Panama, Mexico, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and the United States.
“I will walk him down and throw many combinations. I will hit him with hard shots, and I will knock him out,” added Barroso via a Greg Cohen Promotions release.
Barroso’s promoter, Greg Cohen, was equally as confident.
“Kevin Mitchell is a good fighter but there’s not a lightweight in the world who can keep from getting hit by Barroso even once and that’s all it takes. We are very confident going into this one.”
