Heavyweight Kevin “Kingpin” Johnson (26-1-1, 12 KOs) stopped Alex Leapai (25-4-3, 20 KOs in the ninth round at Doomben Racecourse in Ascot, Queensland, Australia.

Leapai started strong in the first two rounds, including a power punch assault in the second round. Johnson found his range, started boxing and changed the tempo of the fight in the third. Leapai, not in the greatest shape, appeared to be very tired by the end of the fourth round. Johnson was outboxing and outhustling Leapai in the next few rounds, with the Aussie boxer trying to do whatever was possible to change the tide.

In the ninth, Leapai was being punished against the ropes and received a standing eight count. Johnson went back on the attack with combinations to force the stoppage.
