Promoter Kalle Sauerland of Sauerland Event was forced to dig deep for WBC super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler. Sauerland told Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet that Kessler vs. Green will take place in Denmark on September 25th. Their fight contract in the Super Six Boxing Classic, called for the contest to take place in the United States. Sauerland had to put some big bucks in play to convince Green and his promoter Lou DiBella to accept the fight in Kessler's home country.
"Its an expensive deal. More expensive than I like. But before the Carl Froch fight I gave Kessler my word that I would go far to get him home advantage in this fight, and we now succeeded," says Kalle Sauerland to Ekstra Bladet.
No decision has been made on which Danish city will host the fight. According to Ekstra Bladet, Copenhagen, at the moment, is the frontrunner ahead of Herning, where Kessler's two last Danish fights have taken place.
