It's obvious that WBC/WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (39-0, 29 KOs) would like nothing more than a crack at WBO champ Joe Calzaghe (42-0, 31 KOs). It's also obvious that HBO is providing the exposure to both fighters on their network in order to fuel a demand for the fight.
Kessler is not going to face Calzaghe in England, and Calzaghe is not running to fight Kessler in Denmark. According to USA Today , Kessler is hoping that his exposure on HBO will help make the fight.
"I want Joe Calzaghe, if he dares," said Kessler. "I want to show the United States that I'm the best fighter."
There could be a neutral ground, like staging the fight in America or Germany. There have been talks in the past to make the fight and they fell apart rather quickly.
Calzaghe is making his preparations for his title defense against "Contender" star Peter Manfredo on April 7 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. HBO will televise the event and Calzaghe is a heavy favorite to win.
