Former champion Kermit Cintron will make his debut in Puerto Rico on October 24 at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in Puerto Rico. He faces Juliano Ramos in the main event. Carlos Quintana will appear in the co-feature against Jesse Feliciano. Cintron had an offer to fight Joshua Clottey on December 5. The money being offered and the stipulation of not being able to fight Puerto Rico were not appealing terms for Cintron.
"One of the conditions they placed was that I could not fight on this card in Puerto Rico, but I wanted to fight here. This is something I have always dreamed of doing," said Cintron to Primera Hora. "So when I signed with Lou DiBella Promotions, one of my requirements was to fight in Puerto Rico. Now that I've finally got the chance, I will not waste the opportunity. "
Cintron is returning from a huge career win, a twelve round decision over junior middleweight contender Alfredo Angulo. He plans to target fellow-Puerto Rican Daniel Santos in the near future. Santos holds the WBA junior middleweight title.
"I gave a beating to "El Perro" and I showed that in addition to fighting, that I can also box. Now I am preparing for this fight with Ramos. I've been training five weeks and I will put on another great show, "said Cintron. "We are always available to challenge champions and Daniel [Santos] is on my list."
