BoxingScene.com caught up with former Ring Magazine middleweight king Kelly Pavlik (37-2) after his majority decision victory over the previously undefeated Alfonso Lopez (21-1). It was "The Ghost's" first since losing his titles to Sergio Martinez 13 months ago. Pavlik said it took him a few rounds to shake off the rust but was satisfied with his performance.
BoxingScene asked the Youngstown, OH native if he preferred to take another tune up type fight or if he preferred to go immediately into a big fight in the Super Middleweight division. He wants shots at IBF champion Lucian Bute and WBC king Carl Froch.
"I would rather go into a big fight. I would like to fight Bute or Froch or another big name. I know Froch and those guys are tied up in the tournament (Super Six) right now but those are the type of fights I want. This fight was good to get back in the ring and shake off the rust but now I want a big fight."
