December 5 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City will be a big night. WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (35-1, 31) will defend his titles against Paul Williams (37-1, 27 KOs). Pavlik wants to make it a fight Williams claims that "a fight" is exactly what he wants. He hopes Pavlik is willing to stand and trade.

Pavlik is not convinced Williams is able to deal with the power of a true middleweight. Williams has fought several times at the weight. The biggest middleweight win came in April when he dominated Winky Wright. Pavlik is no Winky. He is younger, bigger and much stronger than Wright.

"Paul Williams is a great fighter but he's never been hit by anyone who punches as hard as I do," Pavlik said.

Pavlik's trainer Jack Loew is confident. He said Williams was the one fighter Pavlik was demanding to get in the ring.

"Kelly could have fought three or four other guys but Kelly wanted to fight Paul Williams. He always wants to fight the best out there," Loew said.
