IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-0, 25KOs) has fired back at his domestic rival Amir Khan (31-4, 19KOs), who threw a few jabs of his own in a recent interview.
The two boxers were in talks to face each other earlier this year. Khan broke away from their discussions and signed an agreement to face then WBC middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez at a catch-weight of 155-pounds. Khan started strong, but he eventually got caught and was knocked out in the sixth round.
Brook is following his lead on September 10th, when he moves up in weight by 13-pounds to challenge WBA/IBO/IBF/WBC middleweight king Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin at the O2 Arena in London.
“I have to give him props for taking that fight. It’s a very hard fight so I give him a lot of credit. He can win…... well actually no I don’t think he can. Certainly I still think a fight between myself and Kell will happen because he has proven himself now by being willing to step into the ring with Golovkin," Khan told Dubai Press.
“I still don’t like him, in fact I hate him. But the UK public want to see that fight and it is a fight I would like to give them.”
Brook hit back, stating that Khan was worse than the Kardashians.
"I am not really concentrating about Amir Khan right now - Gennady Golovkin is the man in front of me," he told Sky Sports' Facebook Live. "I have heard that he hates me, Amir Khan, and he does want that fight.
"Last week he didn't want the fight. He's worse than the Kardashian sisters. I haven't got time for him. I am going to use everything I have got in me for this fight. Nobody has really pushed me to the limit. Triple G is going to get the best out of me. I want to be in the big fights and the drama fights. I want to excite all of the fans."
