Egidijus Kavaliauskas (11-0, 10 KO's) is one of the hardest hitting prospects in all of boxing. He's scheduled to fight again on February 13th in Studio City and Top Rank has found a dance partner for him.
"I got him fighting Prenice Brewer, it's definitely a step-up in class, there's no question,"said Top Rank matchmaker, Brad Goodman.
"Even though Brewer's been inactive he has a ton of experience, he's fought real good opposition and the great thing about it is - all of [the fighters with] Egis (Klimas, the manager), whether it's 'the Mean Machine' or Oleksander Gyvozdyk, they want to fight guys who have 20, 30 fights."
Brewer, has a record of 17-3-1 (6 KO's), and has faced the likes of Aaron Martinez, Ronald Cruz, Emanuel Taylor and Patrick Lopez. His last outing came last May 31st as he out-pointed Javon Wright over six rounds.
Finding opponents for the 27-year old Kavaliauskas, who has concussive power and is trained by Robert Garcia has been a difficult task for Goodman, who says,"It's been very, very hard. Guys don't want to fight him or our light heavyweight (Gyvozdyk). They want to fight everybody."
Goodman notes that Gyvozdyk, who is 8-0 (6 KO's) is slated to face Nadjib Mohammedi on the Manny Pacquiao-Tim Bradley III undercard on April 9th in Las Vegas.
Mohammedi is a big step up in class. He last fought in July of last year, when he was knocked out by WBO/IBF/WBA light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev in three rounds.
