Irish lightweight Katie Taylor reckons she's been in quarantine all her life ahead of her showdown with Puerto Rico's Amanda Serrano.

Taylor and the New York-based southpaw clash on July 4 at the Manchester Arena with Taylor putting her IBF/WBO/WBA/WBC lightweight titles on the line.

The fight was slated for early next month at the Manchester Arena but was postponed because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

"I feel like my whole life has been in quarantine," remarked Taylor. "I said to my family, 'you realise you've already been in isolation so much when you have to go into quarantine and nothing about your life changes.'"

The unbeaten 2012 Olympic champion also believes that self-isolating can be a positive thing ahead of her 16th paid outing.

"This isn't a time for anyone to take their foot off the gas. It's going to pay off for the fighters who are disciplined right now," Taylor added, ahead of a bout which will be two days after her 34th birthday.

"You can turn this into a positive. When the boxing world does come back, I'm going to be one of the fighters who was disciplined. It is a dangerous fight for both of us, and career-changing."

Taylor, meanwhile, has no problem with Serrano, who has previously described the Bray woman as "overrated", talking the talk ahead of their ten-rounder.

"I go into every fight with the same mindset. Nothing has changed. She does an awful lot of talking, and it will be the same for this fight. But I don't get involved in anything like that."
