At the Bördelandhalle in Magdeburg, Germany, Karoly Balszay (20-0, 14 KOs) decisioned previously undefeated Denis Inkin (34-1, 24 KOs) to capture the WBO super middleweight title. The scores were 115-113, 116-112 and 116-112. The close fought contest saw Balszay use his tricky southpaw style to outbox Inkin in several rounds and run away with the fight in the late quarter of the fight.
In the co-feature, WBO light heavyweight champion Zsolt Erdei (30-0, 17 KOs) won a twelve round decision over Yuri Barashian (25-5, 17 KOs). The scores were 116-111, 116-111 and 117-110. The fight was originally scheduled for the title, but changed after Barashian was unable to make the weight limit of 175-pounds.
