Former IBF light middleweight champion Roman Karmazin (39-3-1) could become the official contender for the IBF middleweight title. To do that the Russian boxer needs to beat Colombian Dionisio Miranda. The bout may take place in Russia, where Karmazin hasn’t fought since 2002.
“We’ve completed all the necessary work with IBF, and the authorities of this organization don’t mind to see Karmazin as the official contender, - told the promoter Alexander Polgui. – Miranda was offered as an opponent. He, in his turn, agreed to our financial conditions and is ready to fight Roman in Russia. Though we were warned at once that Miranda isn’t as easy opponent, as he may seem. He is a real puncher and is very unpleasant to fight with”.
Miranda, 27, has a record of 20-4-2. Karmazin has only recently started to fight in middleweight division. Miranda has already lost one eliminator bout - Giovanni Lorenzo knocked him out in the second round. So now the Colombian is ready to make the second attempt. According to Polgui Miranda said: “Give me 2 months and I’ll beat anyone”. So the bout between Karmazin and Miranda is set to take place in a couple of months, the precise date to be announced.
