Trainer Shiro Kameda, the father of champion boxers WBC flyweight champ Koki and WBA flyweight champ Daiki, is trying to get his license back from the Japan Boxing Commission. He was banned in 2007 for abusing a referee. Shiro is trying to get his license back to work the corner for his sons. East Japan Boxing Association will be filing a petition to get the ban overturned.
The JBC said they will hear the petition being submitted. Their decision will not be influenced by the title runs of his son. Koki defends against Thailand’s Pongsaklek Wongjongkam on March 27.
“A judgement on his return would not be influenced by his sons holding world titles,” the JBC’s Takashi Uchida told Reuters.
