Former WBC junior welterweight champion Junior Witter, 36, is planning to return for the first time since last August's loss to Devon Alexander. During his career, Witter chased after Ricky Hatton for several years. He never managed to land his dream fight, but now he has his eyes set on Ricky's younger brother, European welterweight champion Matthew Hatton.
"A British, Commonwealth or European belt is a stepping stone," Witter told BBC Sport. "Denton Vassell's the Commonwealth champion, so he's a possible target, but Hatton's the European champion. I don't see winning one of those being a problem at all, then I want to move up to the world scene and get a title shot."
Witter wants to use a win over Matthew as a stepping stone to a much bigger fight. The first man on the list is WBC champion Andre Berto.
"Andre Berto's WBC title is the one I want, but there are other champions out there," Witter said.
