It was reported in the Craven Herald, that WBC junior welterweight champion Junior Witter has turned down a proposed bout against Bernard's nephew, Demetrius Hopkins. The first defense of his title appears to be on the verge of getting pushed back to January, with the bout taking place in the United States and either Showtime or HBO televising the encounter.

"I'm looking for an attacking fighter who wants to come forward and try to beat me up. It's most likely to be against an American because money talks. Texas has been mentioned and it's more than the likely to be over there," Witter said.

Witter said that he would love to face Ricky Hatton, who he claims is scared to death of him.

At a recent bout between Matthew Hatton, whom Ricky was helping, and Alan Bosworth, being helped by his gym mate Witter - the two fighters almost came face to face. The reason it didnt happen is because Witter claims that Hatton was too scared to get in the ring with him at the same time.

"I stepped in the ring with Alan and saw Hatton there but the funny thing is he wouldn't come in. He was just stood on the ring apron outside and trying not to look at me. There was no chance of talking to him. He was looking at all the people around him because he didn't want to catch my eye," Witter said.

Witter is going to fly out to Croatia this coming weekend in order to discuss potential opponents at the WBC's annual convention.
