David Benavidez has no shortage of HUGE fights on his radar. In an exclusive interview with BoxingScene, Jose Benavidez Sr. makes it clear that David still wants the biggest names at 175lbs including Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev. Benavidez has previously said those are two fights he wants to make as he pursues more titles and major challenges. But there’s another name that could make things very interesting: Andy Ruiz Jr. Jose discusses the possibility of an all-Mexican showdown between Benavidez and the former heavyweight champion, along with David’s plans across multiple divisions. And with a potential Jai Opetaia showdown also building after the pair came face-to-face following Opetaia’s latest victory, Benavidez has some massive options ahead.

After two months in rehabilitation for an injury, WBC flyweight world champion Julio Cesar Martinez of Mexico is ready to pick up the challenges right where he left off when an injury forced him to cancel his scheduled contest against his mandatory challenger, McWilliams Arroyo of Puerto Rico.
Back in February, Martinez was all set to face Arroyo as part of the undercard to the battle between Canelo Alvarez and Avni Yildirim. A few days before the fight, he withdrew with a hand injury.
Without the need to resort to the path of an operation and based on rehabilitation and rest, the injury in his right hand is overcome and he hopes to return by May or June.
"My hand is fine, I'm already moving and hitting the bags... ready to return with everything but fear. The truth is I'm sorry because I had never pulled out of a fight like that with anyone," said Martinez to Erika Montoya.
The fighter, who obeys the orders of veteran trainer and manager Eddy Reynoso, hopes to reschedule the contest against Puerto Rico's Arroyo, in order to satisfy a mandatory obligation.
Martinez is being told that his next fight may take place in May or June.
“I have never had to cancel so many fights, but thank God we got over that problem. I'm not afraid of injury, because that's why I've hit the bag as hard so I can to measure how I'm doing [with my recovery],” Martinez declared.
The last time Martinez saw action in the ring was back in October 2020 with a two-round knockout win over Moises Calleros.
