In an emotional interview conducted by Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for TV Azteca in México, the legend himself, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., discussed his induction to the hall of fame, his current state of mind, his health, and his rehabilitation.

Julio's history with alcohol and drugs are well documented. He has been in and out of rehab for the past five years. He used to work as a broadcaster for TV Azteca and there were times that he would show up drunk and the audience complained about barely understanding what Chavez Sr. was saying.

Julio Sr. told Jr. "I am very well right now. My health is good. I have found myself. I have taken things seriously. I know the value of things, and I see life differently. I think life has been very good to me. I have been up and down like anybody else, but they say that those who get up after falling down have more courage and that is the biggest victory of all. I am rehabilitating myself from top to bottom."

"I feel weird because my son is taking this interview. I want to say hello to México. I feel so happy to be inducted into the hall of fame. Thanks to my country and to all of the people who voted for me."

Julio Jr. then asked him two questions.

What does the hall of fame mean to you and how do you feel?

''You know son that I've never been cocky. I take this recognition with great satisfaction. I won many fights, the people and my fans cried with me, laughed with me, and enjoyed my victories. It is with great satisfaction because it is an achivement that was given to me after so many years of fighting."

Did you ever dream about been inducted to the hall when you were a kid?

"No I didn't. I didn't even dream about been champion of the world. All I dreamed about was taking care of your grandmother and the family and this really gives me joy. As a kid you always dream of going for a championship, but I really never tought that this moment would come."

''If I am healthy and in good spirits and more importantly spiritually, we can help each other as a family and love each other more."

Julio Jr. told Chavez Sr:

"The fans miss you, but they are happy that you are fine, and me and my brother as well as the family are very proud of you."

Finally Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., told the audience - ''here is my father, he is doing well. We are very happy and very proud for this recognition from the hall of fame.''
