WBC silver middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is hoping to meet Miguel Cotto on December 4 in either the MGM Grand in Las Vegas or Madison Square Garden in New York City. Chavez will fight Pawel Wolak on September 11 in Mexico. If everything goes as planned, he will move back to the junior middleweight division to face Cotto for his WBA title.
"I have a tough fight ahead with Pawel Wolak. He's a very tough fighter and I hope to beat him and give a satisfactory showing to the people. And then I hope to have the fight with Miguel Cotto next," Chavez said.
Co-promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer is also hoping the Cotto fight happens. Chavez needs to get past Wolak to get there.
"Although he is not that well known, Wolak is a good opponent who will serve as good test for a world championship fight with Cotto in December," Beltran said.
