BoxingScene.com was advised by trainer Freddie Roach that his pupil Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will be return in late January. "Chavez is already back in the gym. They are looking to secure a late January date."

Chavez was originally scheduled to fight Alfonso Gomez on December 4th in Anaheim, CA. His opponent was changed to Pawel Wolak when Gomez pulled out with an injury.  Chavez then was scratched from the fight after coming down with the flu.

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum was looking to match Chavez Jr. with WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto but concedes that the son of the Mexican legend will need a couple fights at the weight before he is ready for such a mega fight.
