Coming into their bout, Nathaniel Gallimore (20-1-1, 17 KOs) has been bold and boisterous as he readies to face Julian Williams (24-1-1, 15 KOs) at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in a bout that will lead off Saturday night's Showtime broadcast.
But Stephen 'Breadman' Edwards, who trains Williams says - "Trash talk don't win fights man. At this stage of his career, if Julian lets that stuff get to him - he don't deserve to win that fight. You've got to fight in the ring. He's young but he's not a kid. He's a young veteran in the game so he's been in the top ten for a long time, he's seen a lot of different styles, people say different things.
"It's just something these kids got to deal with as far as social media and we're in that era where guys say outlandish things. If (Julian) lets that kind of stuff get to him he doesn't deserve to win this fight and I mean that."
Since getting stopped by Jermall Charlo in five rounds in December of 2016 for the IBF 154-pound title, Williams has bounced back with victories over Joshua Conley and Ishe Smith.
Gallimore isn't nearly as experienced 'J-Rock' at the world class level but he comes in with no shortage of confidence.
"I think he's a little immature but you acquire experience by experiencing things," Edwards said of Gallimore.
"So he's trying to draw attention to himself and it'll be one of those things where if he doesn't do the things he says he's going to do, then he's going to face the backlash of it. And if he does do what he says he's going to do then it will be the start of the second stage of his career."
At the final press conference on Thursday, there was noticeable tension between the two who are fighting in an IBF elimination bout.
"So it's up to Julian to execute and make him pay for his comments but you can't react out of emotion. Boxing is the one sport where you don't want to fight mad. You want to fight focused," said Edwards.
