At the Sporthalle in Alsterdorf, Hamburg, Germany, WBO light heavyweight champion Jurgen Braehmer (36-2, 29 KOs) retained his title for the second time with a five round stoppage of Mariano Nicolas Plotinsky (16-4, 8 KOs). Braehmer came out strong in the first, throwing bombs and knocked the challenger down. Plotinksy went into survival mode in the second round and tried to avoid punishment. Braehmer stayed right on him, beating him up with each passing round until the referee stopped the fight.
On the undercard, cruiserweight prospect Rakhim Chakhkiev (5-0, 5 KOs) crushed Slavomir Selicky (15-7-1, 6 KOs) with a first round knockout. Chakhkiev, an Olympic Gold medal winner, is seen as a future star.
Welterweight prospect Antonio Moscatiello (8-0, 7 KOs) blew away Yacine Medjou (4-5-2, 2 KOs) in the first round.
Junior middleweight Jack Culcay (3-0, 2 KO) stopped Sylvestre Marianini (8-22-3, 2 KOs) in the first round.
Veteran junior middleweight Jurijs Boreiko (17-21-1, 13 KOs) upset previouly unbeaten Arthur Matern (4-1, 3 KOs). Matern was dropped hard in the final minute of the second round and was unable to come out for the third.
