The potential bout between former welterweight champions Zab Judah and Antonio Margarito is in possible jeopardy due to Judah publicly proclaiming his status as a free agent.

According to Russ Young, co-owner of Prize Fight Boxing, Judah is still under a legally-binding contract with his company. Young and his partner/brother Brian Young, recently met Margarito's promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, who reviewed Prize Fight's contract with Judah. After concluding that Young's company has Judah under a valid contract, Arum assured Young that a fight Judah and Margarito would not move forward unless his company was involved.

"We met with Arum last week on Wednesday in New York City. Arum reviewed the contract that Prize Fight has with Judah. Arum stated that is was conclusive that Prize Fight does in fact have legally binding contract with Judah and there will be no fight unless it's with Prize Fight," Young said.

Should Judah fall out, don't be surprised if IBF welterweight champion Kermit Cintron becomes the secondary option for Margarito. The fight Margarito-Judah clash was in the process of landing on May 3 with Showtime televising, but plans appear to changing with the recent announcement of Oscar De La Hoya fighting on the same day on regular HBO.
