It appears that Zab Judah will get his last shot at greatness when he takes on the undisputed welterweight champion Cory Spinks this is a rematch of a bout held earlier this year. As it stands right now, the bout will be the main event of a planned January pay per view card presented by Don King. The rumored venue right now is New York's Madison Square Garden.
In their first meeting, Spinks puzzled Judah with his boxing skills and movement in the early rounds. Judah started to catch up to Spinks in the middle to late rounds and began to connect with big shots. In the 11th round, Judah was knocked off balance by Cory Spinks when trying to clown around and lost a crucial point on the cards. Judah came back in the 12th and final round to floor Spinks with a massive left hand right on the button that almost took Spinks out. Spinks beat the count, but was visibly shaken from the shot, Zab could not finish Spinks off as the final clock ran out.
The final scores were 116-111, 114-112 and 114-112. If Zab would have cut out the clowning in the 11th round, clowning which allowed Spinks to drop him while he was off balance, the bout could have been scored a majority draw as two cards would have possibly ended up being scored 113-113.
The undercard is shaping up to be quite a treat. Heavyweights Monte Barret and Owen Beck will finally meet in about rescheduled from the November 13th pay per view. Jean Marc Mormeck and Wayne Braithwaite will finally meet after several postponements in a cruiserweight unification bout. Lamon Brewster will defend his WBO heavyweight title against an opponent to be named.
