In his first bout since coming off a one-year suspension, former champion Zab Judah (34-4, 25 KOs) and journeyman Ruben Galvan (27-11-2, 10 KOs) fought to a no-contest at the Fitz Casino and Hotel in Tunica, Mississippi.
Judah came out strong in the first round by landing almost every punch he threw. As Judah began to unload his power punches, a bad cut opened near the top of Galvan's head. A timeout was called by ref in order to allow the doctor to take a look at the cut. Soon after, the doctor and the referee called off the fight after viewing the serious nature of the cut.
Because four rounds of action were not complete, the fight was ruled a no-contest due to an accidental clash of heads.
Several replays were shown by the ESPN broadcasters and at no time did the two fighters come close to clashing heads.
Judah moves forward to a June 9 pay-per-view clash against WBA welterweight champ Miguel Cotto at New York's Madison Square Garden.
