Trainer Freddie Trinidad has made it clear that he will refuse to train former two-division world champion Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez (34-5, 31 KO) for any future fights. Last Thursday Juanma suffered a vicious two round knockout defeat at the hands of WBA interim-featherweight champion Jesus Cuellar. And less than two months before that loss, he was beaten up by Francisco Vargas and stopped in three rounds.

After the loss to Cuellar, Juanma said "I think this is it" but when he arrived to Puerto Rico he refused to confirm his retirement from boxing.

"I think it's time [for Juanma] to say goodbye, at least for me; as a friend, thank you for the opportunity, but I will not return to train him for a fight," said Trinidad.

"He worked in good faith, but Juanma is not the same as he was before and [a fighter] is not aware of these things when it happens, but unfortunately it happened. As the song says, 'everything has its end.'"
