Juan Manuel Lopez was one of boxing's hottest stars when he ran into Orlando Salido.
Juanma was upset by Salido in 2011, then lost a rematch to him in 2012. However, Lopez would love one more crack at Salido now that they're competing in the same weight class (130 pounds) once again.
"I'd welcome a third fight with Salido," Lopez said on a recent conference call. "Salido, I feel I was dominating, I was winning, we had a little problem there, and he got it. But I'm now with a new team, we're focused, we're working hard, and, yes, I'd welcome it."
Lopez (34-3, 31 KOs) faces Francisco Vargas on Saturday on the undercard to Canelo Alvarez-Erislandy Lara, and if he comes out on top, another fight with Salido (41-12-2, 28 KOs) makes sense. Both fights were tremendous action affairs, and with a dearth of names at junior lightweight, it would be a nice matchup.
Salido is set to return on Aug. 30 in Mexico, per BoxingScene.com's Rick Reeno, and if he wins that affair, could square off with WBC champ Takashi Miura on Oct. 11 in Singapore. Salido is coming off a win over Vasyl Lomachenko.
