BoxingScene.com has learned that a strong possibility exists that Juan Manuel Lopez vs. Steven Luevano will head over to the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Luevano's WBO featherweight title will be on the line. The fight will take place on January 23 on HBO. I’ve heard the decision to possibly change the venue has nothing to do with Luevano’s refusal to accept the fight in Puerto Rico.
According to multiple sources, there are some technical issues with the proposed venue in Puerto Rico. Lopez won his first major title [WBO super bantamweight belt] at the same AC venue in June of 2008, when he knocked out Daniel Ponce De Leon in a single round. Yuriorkis Gamboa will appear in the co-feature against Bernabe Concepcion.
